Solgar’s Nutri Nano Uses Nanotechnology To Deliver Unprecedented Bioavailability

The U.S. company Solgar Vitamin & Herb has announced what it says is the first line of nutritional supplements to use nanotechnology for increased “bioavailability” in the human body. According to the press release, Solgar’s new “Nutri-Nano” technology turns fat-soluble nutrients into amphiphilic ones (substances that are soluble in both fat and water) by surrounding the fat-soluble nutrients with a nano-sized water soluble shell called a micelle. The company is now making the antioxidant CoQ10 available using the Nutri-Nano technology. In its product, micelles that are 30 nanometers across encapsulate approximately 400 CoQ10 molecules each. The press release states that Nutri-Nano CoQ10 is 3.1 times more bioavailable than powdered CoQ10, two times more bioavailable than oil-based CoQ10, and possesses a faster absorption rate than traditional CoQ10 presentations. The product is also said to be more cost efficient.
